International assessment of the use and results of patient-reported outcome measures for hip and knee replacement surgery

Osteoarthritis impacts 7% of the global population, affecting more than 500 million people worldwide. As populations OECD countries age, an increasing number hip and knee replacement surgeries calls for further work on assessment quality care, particularly from patients’ point view. Thirteen programmes nine participated in PaRIS Hip Knee PROMs comparative reporting 2020-21 by collecting submitting data generic condition-specific PROMs. All showed improvements patient outcomes though relative improvement varied. Crosswalks SF-12 to EQ-5D provided valuable lessons conversion errors. Results this call improving use as well collaboration utilising patient-reported metrics quality-of-care policymaking.
